Hi Lovelies,
We can't wait to see you all back in the salon when we are able to reopen. Until then we thought you might like some really easy skin care tips to help you take care of your skin while we are closed and also while our regular routines have gone astray. Sometimes a little routine in the morning or before bed is an easy way to make you feel like you still have a structure to your day and a wind down at night. Studies show that people who still wake up and get ready for the day even when they aren't leaving the house, are more efficient and more focused throughout the day.
So, we figured, if you are going to have a little daily ritual during the Covid-19 closures that it might as well be a pampering one!
Here are our basic skincare tips to create a perfect skincare routine that you can repeat morning and night.
Step One:
Cleanse your face.
Simple right? Our best tip here is to make sure you are cleansing your face morning and night, for a MINIMUM of one minute. So many times we cleanse but rinse before the cleanser has completed its whole task which leaves you with daily residue, grease and dirt on your skin.
Step Two:
Tone.
Yes, Toner in the past has been very stripping and bad for your skin, however, now more than ever we are understanding the benefits of using mists and refreshing sprays to help invigorate your skin and balance before you continue your skin care regime.
How to use toner? We love our OrganicSpa Toning Mist because you don't need to waste cotton pads, or have your toner soaked up by them and go through your bottle too quickly. Two to three sprays from an arms length over your face and neck is what we recommend before you apply your serum or moisturiser.
Step Three:
Treat.
This is something that is going to be different for everyone. The treat step is about using a serum or speciality product like a blemish cream to 'treat' your skin.
For added moisture, something like the BioHydra+ Serum or Rosehip oil.
For healing and vibrance, we love the Vitamin C and ACE serums
And for Anti Aging, wrinkle defense is a perfect treat product.
Each serum or specialty product will be slightly different so it important to follow the steps for that particular product.
Step Four:
Moisturise.
Once you've treated your skin to a serum it is important to still moisturise. Serums work differently to moisturiser so it is a separate step. Serums are typically thinner and lighter so they penetrate deeper into the skin to help repair the skin in its formative layers. Moisturisers help to hydrate and protect by staying on the outer layers of your skin.
Step Five:
Eyes.
Yes, you need an eye cream. Everyone above the age of 18 should be using an eye cream of some sort. It is the thinnest and least hydrated part of our entire body and one of the areas that move the most from constant eye movement, squinting and facial expressions. How they differ to moisturiser is that they are almost always fragrance free meaning you have less chance of irritation and they often contain eye specific power ingredients like Vigna Aconitifolia Extract that target higher cell turnover and increased collagen supplies, making it perfect for anti aging and skin repair.
Lastly, we cannot stress enough how much you need to use a sunscreen EVERYDAY! Yes, every, single, day. We all know Australia cops it with Sun Exposure. We get the worst sun damage in the world, in fact, we get 13 times more skin cancer cases here than the global average. So Apply a sunscreen. Daily. And the leftover sunscreen you have on your hands, rub them into the back of your hands because while we drive around our little paws catch a few more rays than the rest of our bodies and quickly show signs of aging.
I know 6 steps seems like a lot but it shouldn't take you anymore than three or four minutes.
Let's say it took you five minutes just to be generous. Five minutes in the morning and five minutes at night gives you just over an hour a week you are spending on your skin. I don't know about you, but I spend more time than that a week going to and from the fridge waiting for something delicious to magically appear.
One hour a week and your skin will love you for it.
We hope you are all staying safe and sane right now.
Hopefully it won't be long until we can see you all again and get you feeling and looking like yourselves again
Take care,
Liv & Co.
