Does Organic Skin Care Actually Work?

Does Organic Skin Care Actually Work?

We get this question all the time in the salon as for many, many, years the expectations of skincare products rise and with that, usually, so too the chemicals because they have to be stronger, work harder and usually tingle, scrub or leave the skin feeling like something is changing instantly. What most people don’t realise though is what these chemicals are actually doing, or where they come from. We hear so many times that clients want to feel like they are doing the right thing for their skin so heading for the quickest, most promising products is where they tend to go, which can mean that organic and natural skincare doesn’t get a look in because its seen as too gentle or fluffy to work.

In the past natural and organic skin products have been marketed as the fluffy, pampery, nice but not effective forms of skincare. ‘What can I get from rubbing berries on my face?’ and other thoughts like that one…

What we love about our chosen skincare brands, OrganicSpa and Eco-Tan, is that they are packed with active natural and organic ingredients so you only get the ingredients that are actually working. Rather than filling bottles with water first, chemicals second, then skincare ingredients, these products are only made with botanicals and key ingredients. There are also no smelly chemical by products so you skin won’t react to fragrances that are often added to mask those pesky smells. Instead you’ll smell the hard working natural ingredients like Kakadu Plum, Riberry, Lemon Myrtle, Coconut and more beautiful, natural scents to invigorate and treat your skin.

How does it all work?

In a nut shell (excuse the pun) organic skincare is formulated using 100% naturally derived ingredients free from pesticides, over production and artificial fillers. What this means is that you get the pure extracts from every ingredient, and every ingredient is carefully selected to serve a purpose. You’ll never find these products watered down to fill a bottle, as this process effects not only the lifespan of the cleanser, cream or serum but it also effects its purpose. For example a cleanser that’s going to be mixed with water when you use it doesn’t need more water added in the bottle because all it does is dilute it. Instead hard working and skin friendly ingredients appear first on the list to make sure that you get the full effect of the product but also that you only need a tiny amount.

Some popular organic ingredients we love are Kakadu Plum which contains 50 times the Vitamin C of oranges and chemical substitutes, naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid, Antioxidant packed native fruits and berries, certified organic pure aloe vera, Caviar lime, lemongrass (smells amazing!) and so much more.

So next time you’re looking for some professional quality skincare that will love and repair your skin, why not try an organic option?
